Gold plated rings have a 925 silver base that is ‘double plated’ with a 3 micron layer of 14k gold. Treat these as costume jewelry. They will not tarnish though over time the layer of gold will fade in the most exposed areas. Take them off when sleeping, washing hands, and engaging in activities that can excessively scratch your rings. Re-plating to re-birth your gold finish is a wonderful service to take advantage of.
